On the Web site, directions to the hotel included a private taxi. Instead, walking directions from the drop off at St. Marcs would be better. It is not far at all and much more affordable.

The only problem that happened was
our room for the first night. The
reservation specifically stated two
beds but they put us in a room with
one bed. I said we needed a room with
two beds and the only one available was
tiny. The next day we were able to move
to the correct room and the hotel staff
did apologize.

I really enjoyed my stay. Although the room was not very spacious, the bed was comfortable,clean and had a nice view. Breakfast was good too. Everybody was very helpful and the free trip to Murano was very nice.

Very nice. I mentioned to the manager that the trip was a honeymoon for my wife and me; by the time we got to our room, he had arranged for a bottle of champagne in the room.

A romantic, cozy and clean hotel conveniently located near Piazza San Marco. The staff is very attentive and helpful. They made our stay wonderful. Be sure to get a room with a canal-view. It might cost a a few Euros more, but it is worth it. (However, if you do not like the sound of gondoliers serenading outside of your window you might prefer an inside room).

Hotel staff were helpful in giving us the comparisons in length(timewise) of travel between hotel and Airport via Waterbus or by Water taxi, and then once we had decided, ordered us a water taxi (which arrived on time!) for the morning of check out.

Ideal location (only a few minutes walk from St Marks Square). In general we found Venice more expensive than other cites in Italy we have visited, but still found this hotel very good value for money. If you can, get a room on the second floor which has a canal view. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Lisbons is difficult to find on first arrival because it is tucked away behind another hotel. Nothing wrong with it but a few more guidance notes detailing how to find it and whatit looks like would have made it esier to get there on first attempt. As it was we had to wander around with the luggage from the ferry stop the other side of St Marks Square - which was fine as we are able to walk and carry but other may not be able to.

It was fun to over look the Gondoliers on the canal picking up their rides. A bit of a surprise on the first night as we left the windows open and both the church bells and the gondoliers woke us - very nice but if we'd shut the inner window we'd have slept a litle longer!

Because we were dealing with Venice, it is, of course, difficult to provide the kind of directions that would otherwise be needed. We had very little difficulty finding the hotel, the staff was extremely gracious and helpful and the location was marvelous. We would definitely stay with Hotel Lisbona again.

Hotel Lisbona is a perfectly charming boutique hotel. Very Venetian, with lovely appointments, and marvelous staff which was very helpful. Our room overlooked a canal plyed by gondoliers, so we were often entertained by them and tourists. (However it was very quiet after about 10:00 at night, so noise was never a problem) The hotel is very convenient to sites that most tourists would like to see.

This hotel was a great value if you want to be near San Marco. Just as advertised, the rooms were clean, comfortable and very nicely decorated, albeit very small. Bathroom very nice. Staff a bit cool.
But all in all, a great stay and we will return.

We loved the hotel and had a great room on the canal as advertised. The only downside was that there was no air conditioning and the room got hot during the night unless the windows were open. There were no screens and we got bitten by misquitos all night.

The hotel was absolutely charming our room overlooked the canal where gondoliers passed by music could be heard in the streets from the room if the windows were open. The breakfasts were delicious and the gondolas could be seen from the breakfast room as well, we enjoyed Hotel Lisbona very much. The only negative was rhat the room was very small.

Yes but this is difficult to describe. There was a gondola station outside the hotel and the gondoliers would talk to each other quite loudly. Their voices were wonderful to listen to with that Italian lilt that is halfway between speech and song.I would open my window and listen for hours. Sometimes they would sing and their voices would echo around the narrow canals. Sometimes they would have a piano accordian and a tenor on board. These sounds are what I remember when I think of Venice.

Very very romantic an experience not to be missed. Flowers, music,blue water wonderfully old and beautiful buildings. Very quiet without cars. I remember opening my window one night to hear the sounds of a classical guitarist.Such compelling music. The hotel has double glazing so very quiet with the windows shut.

Our flight was due very late in the evening, but we could leave our luggage near the reception, so we could stroll in the city before leaving to the airport. It helped us a lot.

We had problems with the water pressure in the morning, during our showers. So, the water would completely shut off while taking a shower, but them would resume in a few minutes. A bit of an inconvenience. Also, our friends staying in a neighboring room. The bottom of their shower was not flat (it was sloped). So they said it was difficult to stand in the shower, especially for the 6 foot tall traveler.

The hotel is very conveniently located close to the San Marco vaporetto stop and from the Piazza San Marco. On a hot day like the one I arrived it was great to be able to take a shower immediately after arriving and being in the Piazza 5 minutes afterwards!

The air-conditioning was a God-sent when outside it was 37º and 90-odd percent of humidity! The room was smallish but not too small and very, very confortable.
All in all, I think that the hotel helped make my stay in Venice a memorable one.

Served with pot of herbal tea at breakfast without being offered choice of ordinary tea.
It might also be helpful to provide a couple of additional pillows in rooms for those who like more than just one to sleep on.
Otherwise service was good.

There was one very helpful male staff member throughout my stay and on departure informed me of the group water tax straight from San Marco to the airport for 10 euros which 2 other staff members did not tell me about and this was really helpful information as I had an extremely painful pinched nerve in my neck with pain radiating down my arm and was deeply concerned about having to take bus from Piazzale Roma and handle luggage several times.

The room which I had I loved, but it was too close to the house cleaning staff's supply room and they had fairly loud conversations in early morning which was somewhat disturbing. The conversations went on for ages. The staff should be informed about this. The room was at the end of the corridor on the first floor after turning right at the top of the stairs.

You should publish that this hotel does not have an elevator. We stayed on the 4th floor and had to drag our luggage upstairs. Some older customers or those with handicaps may have a difficult time with this hotel. Otherwise, it was very enjoyable.
It is also directly connected to some of the best and world renowned shopping in Venice (Prada, etc.).

A very pretty, quaint, and economical hotel. Every room has a great view of a private canal where gondolas pass by during the day and many more dock at night. It is also just steps away from the best shopping in Venice. The Hotel Lisbona is the best buy that I have found in Venice.

It took us an hour and a half to find Hotel Lisbona because we were not given any directions from San Marco vaporeta stop. We walked passed the hotel three times as its not very noticable and not sign posted. We found this quite amusing but other people may not. On finally finding the hotel the young lady who checked us in was very friendly, welcoming and helpful.

I noticed on the Venice.By website that quite a few people reported that the Hotel Lisbona staff were unfriendly. I found the staff were quite welcoming and friendly. The only exception to this was the cleaning staff who werent so welcoming.
The room we stayed in was very nice. It was small and compact and i gather that most of the rooms are like that so if your looking for a big spacious room to spread out in this is not the place to go. But if you like a cosy quite hotel with a romantic view onto the canal below this is the place. A gem of a hotel. I would definately go back if going to Venice again. Me and my girlfriend loved it.

Include a detailed direction on how to get to the hotel from the St. Lucia Station. We took the vaporetto to San Marco and had to walk quite a bit, however, there is another stop more close to the hotel (just a 5 min. walk), however, I have no documents here at the moment but the name of the Stop is also San Marco ... (closer to the Bauer Grunwald Hotel).

It can be hard to find - but that applies to many addreses in venice. A more detailed map would be good

The first night we were put in an extremely small room that the receptionist said was due to some unexplained management problem. In fact, the room was so small it was not possible for each of us to open our suitcase at the same time. It would have been impossible to spend a second night in what was clearly an inside single room that should be rated 'sub-standard.' Two sides of the bed were up against the walls. There was about 12 inches between the double bed and the wall on the third side and hardly more on the fourth side. The air conditioning was not on, despite the receptionists clain that it was. The TV was mounted on the wall and difficult to operate with the remote control. However, the bathroom was clean and recently tiled and had a window.

As promised by the receptionist upon our arrival, we were assigned a much better room for the remainder of our stay. It faced a canal and had a small balcony. The bathroom was larger and also had a window on the canal. We felt it was a fair value considering the location and canal view. However, the hotel overall did not seem to warrant its 3-star rating.
The breakfast was nicely presented and had a good choice of food and beverage. The breakfast area is very small and only seats 15 people at a time, so a wait for a table is a possibility.

This is a small hotel that has some nice but small rooms on the canal but also some much less desirable rooms without views that are sure to disappoint unless the price is very low. It does not compare well to other three star hotels we have stayed at in Italy. But if one can be sure of getting one of the better rooms overlooking the canal, it may be fairly priced. However the canal is noisy at night and that could be a problem for some people.
