no hot water when we came, bahtroom porly cleaned. does not deserve it`s stars

the hotell is not in the condition as the pictures on the web deskribes it, it is in poor condition, in particualy the baths.
no good for a tree star hotell, maybe for a cheap b&b

Hotel La Vecchia Cartiera, a fairly modern hotel, is situated in the valley of Colle val D'Else in the newer, more commercial part of the town. The ancient town is a climb (as always) to the top of the hill behind. The Hotel is comfortable, well run and the rooms are more spacious than others we stayed in in the region.

We arrived early in the morning and did not expect to be able to get into the room, only wanted to store our luggage. The staff was more than accomodating, apologized that we could not check-in a even placed our luggage in our room when it was ready.

When checking out,the computer printed € 8o.- per night, but we said that we have given the voucher with € 70.- at the arrival and immediatly the cashier changed the invoice with many excuse and very kindly.

The GPS-Navigator (latest addition) could not find the adress - Via Oberdan !!! and this is very strange, until now we find all directions wanted, also the very little streets !!! Please check !!

Especially for visitors who wants to visit San Geminiano, Siena etc. the bus-station is 100 m from the Hotel and the hotel-personal helps with information.

The decor in the rooms was a little dated and the shower wasn't the hottest but the staff were incredibly helpful, in particular the manager.

It is in a nice town, central to Tuscany. Very convenient to Siena and Firenze. Hotel is clean and well run. Great staff. The manager speaks English and is helpful.

The manager spoke excellent english, which was a big help! Free parking was blocks away...a disappointment with the probable precipitation. We paid 7 euro per day to use the basement parking. The good deal on the room rate made this palatable.

We were on the street side of the hotel. The room tended to be too warm, even with the controls off, so we had to open the windows. The noise level was fine with the windows closed, but open...it was a problem. Our real problem was temperature control.
The contintntal breakfast was excellent. And the hotel kept it open an extra hour when the time change took place...unexpectedly for us.

This was a great value for a fine little hotel. Service was excellent, and a number of restaurants were within a block, around ghe town square. This town is centrally located for great excursions to Siena, Florence, and the great towns of central and eastern Tuscany...Volterra a favorite nearby.

on the website were just photos from the larger (normal sized) rooms. i got a small room (i knew that before!) but I was surprised how small 'small' is... a photo even from the small rooms online would be good!

Our mistake but we did not realize the hotel was located in the center of town. Parking was underground with easy access to hotel. I would suggest not charging extra for parking.

Room was very clean but noise level from lobby, hallways and other rooms was extreme. Floors are hardwood and very noisy. Walls and ceiling very thin. Shower stalls are very small, not much room in bathroom.

Show a better detailed map of location. Mention in website things to do in area. Good location for travel by car to Pisa, San Giov and Sienna. Restaurant on site was not open in March.

Two star Hotel in comparison to charge. (80 Euros plus 8/day for parking. Rooms drab but clean. Offers a decent accomadation for guests wanting to be a little more adventerous and travel. Not much to see in town but San Gio and wineries are close.Manager and staff were great.
