We were very happy with the rooms and the stay at the Virgilio. We would stay again if we were in Rome. The hotel arranged the car service for us, picking us up from the airport as requested. There was some confusion about the car service that was to have taken us to the port - it took us back to the airport - and we had to pay extra to get to the port for our cruise.
Would recommend this hotel.

A very nice hotel with great location! Friendly staff, nice and clean room. A perfect stay for a couple of days in Rome!

We asked the hotel to arrange for us to be collected from the airport. The driver was there on our arrival and we were treated very well.

The hotel staff were always friendly, helpful and contributed to our stay being pleasant.The hotel is ideally placed for tourists and I definitely recommend it to anybody visiting Rome and should I return myself I will certainly book a room.

It is perfectly placed for touring the city on foot. The rooms are comfortable and there are several bars and restaurants nearby to relax in after a hard days walking. The rooms are clean and well maintained and it was a real plus having 'con Bagno' .

When I checked on the Worldby.com page and I found Hotel Virgilio, they told us there will be someone at reception who speaks German. But there wasn't anyone who was able to speak German. I guess, that's the only negative thing I can think of.

On the first night of our stay there was a mix-up with the rooms. We had booked a double room (stated on my WorldBy receipt) but the hotel had us down for a twin room. They put us in the twin for 1 night and moved us the following day. The room on the 1st night was on the 2nd floor, was small, it was basically a single room with an extra bed thrown in. The air conditioning wasn't working and the TV did not have any english channels as advertised. The bathroom however was clean and newly decorated.
On the following day we were moved to a double room on the 3rd floor. It was like a different hotel. The room was very nice and had all the amenities we were expecting.
I guess the Virgilio is currently renovating and had not got around to the rooms on the second floor just yet. We did not complain as the hotel staff were polite, it seemed like a genuine mistake was made and they promptly moved us for the second night of our stay.

The air conditioner kept on breaking down 75% of the whole day, and it was really hot that i belived it was made intetionly to save in the electricity bill,which was very disappointing ,inaddition to the towels,it was the worse i used in my life as it was like a tabel cloth not the normal one you dry your body with.

the beds 's lenght were really small,it connot accomadate a slightly tall person beside it's a narrow bed, inaddition to the the refundable(at check out) 20 euros they take for the airconditioner that was not working most of the time

it's a clean hotel,nice reception and diner,very central location,but i would certainly mention the
1.towel thing(my friend you should bring your own towel or you can leave the air to dry you up)
2.air conditioner(be prepared to really sweat at night)
3.the narrow short bed
( definatly if you are an average well build person dont think twice before reserving the room,if you are a girl its ok!)

Service at breakfast could do with more staff waiting tables and could be a little more imaginative. Long wait to be served coffee.

The room was very small and only had one chair. The bathroom had a damp patch on the ceiling. The shower door was broken and had been replaced by a piece of plastic sheeting which let water splash on the bathroom floor.The towels were not very good.
At breakfast only plastic beakers were provided for juice instead of glasses.
The Hotel Virgilio is not up to three star standard.

1. Elevator out of order when I arrived, no one offered to bring bags up to the room, had to carry them myself.

1. Room very small for a superior triple (could not even walk between the beds). Moved to another room the next day that was worst! Old, mildew on bathroom walls. Could not move agaian, said hotel was booked.
2. Air-condition broke the next day, was not fixed until well into the night - Could NOT sleep.
3. Breaksfats very poor, not even cheese or ham offered.
4. On departure, very early wake-up call (5:30 am) to leave for the airport never received. Thank God I got up without it.
Please notify the hotel of my dissatisfaction.

I took a taxi from the bus station to the hotel, which in the directions I was told was a five minute walk. After driving round numerous cobbled streets for 20 minutes we arrived at the hotel. The driver asked for 20 Euros which I gave him, he then stood there looking pathetic turned his back on me and then showed a 5 Euro note in his hand, as though that was all I'd given him. As it was dark and cold I gave him another 20 not realising until I got to my hotel room that he had ripped me off, he had taken 40 euros for a journey that should have taken two minutes and cost 7 euros!!! Be ware there are lots of rip off merchants and pick pockets in Rome.
The hotel was located in a very convenient situation and was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Nice furnishings etc, I would highly recommend the hotel and would visit again.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Rome, the only down side was the number of people who'd had there purses, wallets, cameras stolen. It is the only thing that would make me think twice about visitng again, I did not feel safe!

A lovely calm hotel, very impressed by the accommodation and cleanliness of this hotel. We stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms on the third floor which was quite exceptional. Very calm and elegant decor. On arrival we were greeted at Reception by a very helpful gentleman who was delighted to answer any questions we had about Rome, in perfect english.

It is very quiet. You get the convenience of being close to a main street in Rome, but not the commotion. The room was spacious and private.

They were very orginized and they let us leave our luggage in the hotel until we were ready to leave Rome.

It was a very nice hotel. Very good for the money. The hotel is in a good location, near bus and train station. It is also within walking distance of most of Rome's turist places. We walked to most of them, about 15 min to Colosseum and Trevi Fountain, and 5 min to Piazza Vittorio Emanuelle. It is not to close to restaurants, but there are some bars and pizzerias near by. The hotel also offers tours, which provided transportation around Rome. It is just a block away from a main street, but very quiet.

Checking out is by 11.00AM and our flight back was beginning of the evening, we'd have appreciated to be able to take a shower before taking the taxi from the hotel. The manager mentionned that would be possible in the morning but we ended up with no shower availability which was really frustrating after a long & hot day in Roma. That's the only negative feeling about the hotel.

The place is fabulous.... I've been to Rome 3 times and I always get a Hotel close to Via Nazionale! We were all very well hosted, and I confess I wqas a bit affraid of this internet/credit card thing.... You helped me to trust this system a bit more...
I think this mail very important, most of the companies don't mind after the client leaves... Thanks and I'll count on you, next time I go to Rome!

The hotel is very good situated, everything is in walking distance.
The rooms are clean and big enough. We stayed there with a child and everything was OK, but there is no microwave for heating the milk and the entrance is with stairs so you have to lift the buggy.

WE HAD RESERVED 2 ROOMS AND WHEN WE ARRIVED AT THE HOTEL THE SATFF TOLD US THAT THEY HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE LIGHT OF 2 ROOMS AND THAT WE HAD TO SLEEP TOGETHER, IN 1 ROOM FOR THE FIRST NIGHT. THEY DID A DISCOUNT TO US OF 19 € PER ROOM.
THE SECOND DAY THEY GAVE US 2 ROOMS.

BREAKFAST IS TOO BASIC.

En Roma es muy dificil llegar en coche hasta un sitio, si no se conoce la ciudad.

there is big diffirencies between the new rooms of the third floor and the old room of the second floor, but price is the same!

There is no direct stairs from the first to the third floor. As the third floor is inside an other bulding, you have to use outside stairs but they are forbitten because you can only use them in emergency case. So if tou are in the third floor, you have to use a very small elevator.

I liked the location, the reception an public area and the breakfast room a lot. some of the staff were extrememly helpful and nice; one was a bit snippy.
Bathroom was okay; room rather odd saped and ugly.
the worst thing was that the phone didn't work--big problem since I had several calls to make and had to do so from the lobby.
Deposit for the air conditioner control was a surpise.
But on the whole, good value for money.
