The staff makes you feel you have 'come home'. This was our fifth visit at Santa Chiara and the improvements to the breakfast area and Lobby were wonderful.

Cleanest hotel we've ever seen. For many years we stayed at The Majestic but it became 'seedy'. then at the Hassler. Ran across Santa Chiara while walking and fell in love with it's charm and more personal atmosphere.

For guests who like to WALK while in Rome the location is ideal...especially for us because we visit the Pantheon every day.
We enjoy the balcony of 410...and the beautiful travertine bath.

Unfortunately we were taken for a 'ride' at the train station when we arrived. You might warn tourists that the buses and taxi's are right outside the train station. However, our fault for not knowing.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Santa Chiara in Rome. We had the apartment with the patio and it was great. It is such a central location to so many of Rome's sites ie. Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Nuova, Vatican etc.

We were not aware the entry to hotel was closed to all auto traffic. We received a ticket that the clerk has attempted to void. This is problem since everyone wants to leave their luggaage.

There was a miscommunication about the number of people (two instead of one)in the reservation. The staff did their best to accommodate this change and found a satisfactory solution.

Although we checked out at 4:30 am for an early flight, the staff was on duty, helpful, and ready with the promised taxi to the airport that we had arranged with the front desk.

The single area that we felt could use improvement was in the bar. On two (rainy) evenings, many guests gathered there, but it was nearly impossible to get a drink because the bartender had so many other responsibilities, and because he clearly had not been trained in serving from the bar. What should have been a relaxing and pleasant experience was instead frustrating and annoying. It seemed uncharacteristic of the service level of the Santa Chiara.

It happened to be extremely hot in Rome when
we stayed (over 40o)and the air conditioning
in the rooms is minimal at the best of times
so we were somewhat uncomfortable during the
night. Restaurant recommendations were
good. The concierge seems to keep her own
hours but the front desk was helpful in
booking a tour of the Vatican.

It's great value for the money. The hotel is spotlessly clean, there are elevators (not a given in Rome), and my room was very comfortable. The staff is helpful. The breakfast buffet, which comes with the room, is generous. The location is prime. I will stay there again when I return to Rome.

All the staff were exceptionally helpful and polite. The reception staff were always very friendly, the porter was very efficient, the breakfast staff were wonderful, and Federica was particularly fantastic in her advice and assistance. In my opinion it is the best hotel in Rome.

Our flight did not leave until 21.50 that night, but we were able to leave our bags with the porter until we had to go to the airport. It was nice not to have to worry about what to do with the bags all day.

This hotel is perfectly located in the centre of Rome to walk easily to most of the important sites. The staff were all extremely helpful and polite - I could not ask for anything more. The room was tastefully decorated and most comfortable. If I travel to Rome again, this is the only hotel at which I will stay. Just perfect!

The Church across from the hotel, (another amazing one), has a Michelangelo statue 'Christ the Redeemer'in it ... so surprising ... and a Bernini statue in it's square (part of the hotel's logo).

It was the best location for a hotel in Rome. It is literally 2 minutes from the Pantheon and 5 minutes from Piazza Navona. There were many other hotels that I researched and they all said that they were close to the main sites. The room was very small for two people.
Some of the staff were quite snooty. One man in particular, when asked about the bus to Siena, told us we would have to go out to the bus station the day before traveling to buy a ticket. When asked additional information, he acted very put out (his information was wrong - we were able to buy a ticket online). I had asked if he could direct where to find the information if he didn't know, but instead he gave wrong information in a snooty manner.

Hotel's location is terrific and should have a lot of appeal to travellers.
My only somewhat negative comment is that the daily breakfast wasn't anything special; it was in fact quite routine and would benefit from more fresh fruits and yogurts, for example; coffee is really awful!

The hotel is extremely well situated and offers good quality for the price. However, it should be said that the rooms facing the street are quite noisy.

The hotel accomodations were great.

Ennio at the reception desk was very friendly and helpful. However, we found the rest of the men manning the reception desk were very unfriendly and unhelpful. There were six people in our group and every one of them had the same bad experience with the front desk - several of the front desk people were short with us and couldn't answer many of our questions including where to buy bus tickets. We learned to wait until Ennio was manning the front desk if we had questioins or needed help.

Checkout was very good however the front desk had ordered in several taxis from several different companies for a number of folks, some in groups who needed several taxis, heading to the airport or other locations. The taxi drivers became confused over which passengers were theirs. As a result the taxi drivers got into a big arguement in front of the hotel and a number of folks were delayed getting to the airport for about 15 minutes when one driver refused to allow another driver to take any of the people waiting. This problem could have been avoided if one of the receptionists or someone else from the hotel who had ordered the taxis and spoke Italian had come out front to keep the taxi drivers straight on who each of them was picking up.

Very nice rooms, excellent location, expensive, tough to get help at the reception desk from several of the people who man it.

I had asked for an upgraded room and it was on the reservation but that room was given to the other couple traveling with us. I didn't realize until I checked out and found their room cost more than ours.

The air conditioning make the room stink of cigarette smoke so we had to open the window which was noisy. Our friends who stayed in the other room had the same experience of smelling cigarette smoke as their room was above the breakdfast room.

Location is great but the rooms are very average. Very expensive compared to Venice, whre we stayed 3 years ago. May be because of the eschange rate. Staff is very helpful.

Rooms were in need of paint and an update. Bathrooms were lovely. Our first room (we changed after one night) was an apartment with locked kitchen and ceilings that sloped down-only a velux window in both the bedroom and bath. Most of both rooms were under the windows and one couldn't walk without hitting your head.....

Other than the location, close to the Pantheon, I thought this was a mediocre hotel trying to be posh.........It was not particularly clean and the rooms needed paint and redecorating.....

I liked the hotel--especially the location. The staff could be much much more helpful and polite, especially to children. Generally, they did not seem pleased to have us.
