Staff were always helpful.
A constructive comment would be that breakfast could be improved by having more variety, e.g. warm eggs, croissants, ham & cheese.
We apprecited the padding in the room to exclude all outside noise - very good.
Another constructive comment would be that the TV in the room should have BBC24 - we missed that being from the UK
... Very good value for money. Everything we expected

This location was great, could not be better. You could get to everything on foot. We could have used a little more help from the front desk getting around, ie reservation, suggestions, about trains etc. They didn't seem to know much. The lighting in the room was really bad. You could not see to put on your makeup even in the bathroom. The TV was really sad, the clicker was broken, really hard to get working. Complained about it and nothing was done. We specifically booked a room with a TV. Disappointing. That being said the rest was good. Decent size room for Europe. Super clean. Sound proof. The special windows. Overall we had a nice stay. ... You could not get a better location, but the tv and the lighting needs an upgrade. Very soundproof, a must in any European city.

Very attentive, very prompt and very friendly ... Our stay in Hotel Cecil was the seventh hotel in a 3-week trip to Europe and it was the best! We stayed in 3-star rated accommadation and Hotel Cecil was outstanding. One notable factor was the Quietness of the rooms- no traffic noise or plumbing noises could be heard. ... I recommend Hotel Cecil to any of our friends - it is quiet , centrally located , air-conditioned and well appointed.

This was a very pleasant experience straight away setting me in a very good mood for this family stay. ... Except for the design of the room door, which left a lot of free space from the floor allowing residual corridor noises in the morning and late afternoon to filter in, the standard and the quality of the room was higher than expected. ... I am not aware of such dtls. ... A very coneniently located hotel with nice rooms. Friendly and professional over-all ambience and staff.

Hotel Cecil arranged an airport shuttle for us, which for our group of eight people was actually cheaper than the other options. We arrived quickly and they immediately took us to our rooms, letting us rest before registering or paying for the room. We appreciated this level of service. ... The Hotel Cecil was the perfect place to spend our first night in Rome. The location allowed us to visit a great number of sights in a very short time, and the double-double-paned windows completely shut-out the noise of the city so that we could rest to get over our jet-lag. ... Hotels in Rome are very expensive. While Hotel Cecil was a little more expensive than some other options, the service and location (not to mention the sound-proof windows) made us very grateful to have paid the small difference. The check-out process was very simple and the staff was helpful in arranging for inexpensive Taxi service to the train station. ... The double set of double paned windows should definitely be mentioned. This is a great asset. Between them and the shutters we were easily able to take a nap in the middle of the afternoon without any disturbances whatsoever. ... At first sight from the street the Hotel Cecil appears to be just a small hotel on a side-street. Once you step inside, however, you find a charming old-style hotel that immediately makes you comfortable. We found our rooms to be neat and clean. Since we had the four-person rooms (a rarity in Rome) we had plenty of space. We also appreciated the morning breakfast in a cafe'-style setting. I bet that a summer breakfast on the roof would be spectacular!! The location was absolutely perfect. We reserved the rooms here because of the proximity ot the Villa Borghese park, but found that we were only a short walk from the Trevi fountain, and the Spanish Steps were literally arouond the corner. We also enjoyed being close to the fashionable Via Veneto, where we found the American Embassy and the Bone Church (Cripto dei Capuccini). This really is a very good location at a reasonable price (for Rome).

A good clean hotel, less than 5 minute walk to the Spanish Steps. The staff spoke good English and provided maps and usefull information. We made good use of the terraceand it got is away from the business of the streets below. Had a great tour of Rome at night and also the Colliseo. Public transit was easy to use.

we did not use the directions so i cannot really answer no. 1 ... the hotel roof terrace is only open 16:00 to 20:00 so it's a bit limited
shower was tiny ... extremely well located, friendly service and comfortable room

Breakfast is only served until 9.30am. I would suggest extending this time especially as most visitors are not up that early. (I was visiting from Australia so it's pretty hard to get adjusted to the time). Perhaps up until 10am or 10.30am would be great - or providing breakfast to the room instead. ... The hotel is small, neat and tidy and well appointed. The location is fantastic just a couple of minutes to the Spanish steps one way and a few minutes to the Trevi fountain in the other direction. The staff are extremely helpful and polite. I only had a single room which was bit smaller than i expected but it was clean and tidy and had it's own bathroom which is all i needed. However, because all the rooms are so close to each other there is virtually no sound barrier. People walking and talking in the hallways and the cleaners in the morning can all be heard as though it was happening right in your room. Other than that it was a lovely stay in the hotel and a beautiful few days in Rome.

The hotel had arranged for a car to pick us up at the airport. The driver and car was worth the price. ... Most of the staff was very helpful. The older woman was not. ... Clean, nice room (furniture s/b updated) and good location.

All went smoothly. ... The staff was very helpful and spoke fluent English. The stairs were being renovated the week I was there, which meant using the one elevator, which was slow at times, but it worked. The only real drawback was sound insulation. There was a family in rooms across the hall who spent each morning screaming at each other, all perfectly audible from my room. ... Checkout was easy and they were very helpful in arranging a taxi to the airport and suggesting alternate routes. ... Nothing fancy, but a nice, reasonably priced place to stay, walking distance to pretty much anything you want to see in Rome. The staff were very helpful, as well. I wouldn't stay there on a business trip because there's not really enough space to work in the room, but for a holiday, it was just what I wanted.

The arrangement with the limo service from the airport was excellent. ... You need to update the safes in the rooms. They are extra sensitive to punching in the numbers. We accidently pushed the wrong number and were unable to open the safe the night before our departure. Fortunately we did not have an early departure, otherwise there would be a problem waiting for the appropriate person to be on duty ... We would recommend the Hotel Cecil to friends.

The gentleman who was working on the morning of my checkout did not know the complete procedure for accepting the use of the credit card. His superior arrived to complete the transaction in time for me to catch the train I had a ticket for. While it caused me some anxiety, it worked out fine. ... Great location for a good price. Our brief Rome experience was a very pleasant one indeed. We found the Hotel Cecil staff friendly and helpful. A problem with the TV was quickly fixed. The breakfast tasty and adequate. The hotel's proximity to many of Rome's finest 'sights' is a definite plus. We would have no hesitation in staying at Hotel Cecil should wwe have occasion to return to Rome. In short - VERY SATISFIED. (sgd. Dorothy Howard) ... As above. Nothing negative to say at all. ... The day we checked out was a holiday (Toutes Saintes) All Saints' Day and when we phoned to confirm our taxi to the airport, there was no response. The desk clerk kindly took over the responsibility of trying to get through to confirm the taxi which turned out to the a condiserable investment in time for him. He was also 'manning' the breakfast table, making coffee, tea etc.
... no ... Well situated, clean, older hotel but with most modern amenitites. This 'old' quality was a plus for us and we enjoyed reading about its history and looking at pictures.
Staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

I loved Hotel Cecil. It's well located, the staff was helpful, it's clean & cute! I had a choice of 2 rooms and chose a smaller one that was quieter. My friend also got a room for one night when he saw how nice it was. I enjoyed the roof top deck, the breakfast was good. I was happy during my stay in Rome. I will recommend Hotel Cecil to my friends travelling to Rome. ... I loved it! ... They arranged an airport ride. I requested it the day prior to departure. The driver was prompt. ... The bar has limited supply of items for cocktails. The preseco was not chilled was the worst thing of the entire visit! ... Wonderful. Definitely stay there. It's a great value, a terrific location and helpful staff.

The bar was a little understocked. Our order of three cans of beer was enough to dry the bar out.
Also the roof terrace was only open from 4.00-8.00pm, which seemed a little oddd, as there were no facilties on the roof other than... the view.
I stayed in a single room that could not be dscribed as 'spacious'. This is, though, the norm for single rooms. Otherwise, the room was quiet, clean and perfectly fine.
The bathroom was clean, with hot water always available. ... Staff were extremely helpful. ... It's great value is its position in the old centre of Rome.
The facilities are fine and the staff very pleasant and helpful.

We had a party of six in three rooms with a lot of luggage. They helped bring all the luggage in from the taxi, checked us in and got all the luggage up to the rooms in no time. ... The staff was very helpful, polite and friendly with the execption of an older woman who was a little grumpy. The rrof top terace seemed to be under some construction and was not open as a bar (as advertised in the elevator), although we were allowed to go up there with our own wine and enjoy the sights. ... If you wanted to pay by credit card you had to pay the night before check out, but this was posted at the desk. We mad our own arrangements for a car to pick us up, and it was a litle late. The Hotel staff was kind enough to get the cell phone number from us and call to make sure the driver had understood us and was on his way. ... I would say that it was a very pleasant hotel in a great location with a friendly anf attentive staff. The rooms we had were big and comfortable and quiet, and we all enjoyed our stay. The fact that breakfast was mostly pre-packaged stuff was helped along by excellent cappuccino made by the staff.

There was confusion regarding the limo driver who was supposed to pick us up at the airport. The driver was supposed to have a sign with our last name on it, but did not, so it was very hard to locate/connect with him. It took about 45 minutes in very hot weather after almost 18 hours of travelling, so that was very frustrating. Other than that, the hotel accommodations were very good and we were pleased with our stay. We have since recommended the hotel to our travel agent and friends. ... Location is great--just a short walk from the Spanish Steps. ... Great location; clean, nice rooms; friendly and helpful staff; reasonably priced (for location). Would not recommend the limo service from the hotel unless it was ensured that the driver would be readily identifiable. Would recommend a taxi/shuttle instead.

I truly enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Cecil - the hotel was in a fantastic location, the staff were always very polite (except for one night porter to look slightly ticked off when we got home at 5am!) and the breakfast was great. But you are out most of the day anyway. As it was our first time overseas we was surprised that there was no fridge to store your drinks also no facilities to make your own drinks ie tea and coffee. It was difficult to imagine what made our room a 'Superior Deluxe' as opposed to just a standard Double room other than the presence of a hairdryer. We were unable to confirm this due to a language problem at check in.
We did however have a balcony albeit with a restricted view, that was not advertised. ... Very expensive for the style and standard of the accomodation, although this appears to be normal in Rome. ... The rooms are quite noisy, especially acoording noises from other guests. We think that the price is far too high compared to the quality (and we can compare this to other hotels where we stayed in Rome only this year). Another problem was breakfast. the receiptionists were polite and assisted us abt city directions ... the rooms are just comfortabable fr 2 persons but the furnitures are very old/dangerous and need changes but the big problem are the bathrooms as they are very small and uncomfortable specially the showers. on the other hand the rooms were quiet, private with airconditioning in good operation. the position of the hotel is excellent as need 5 minutes to piaza di spagnia/via condotti/trevi fountain and 3 minutes to metro station. ... we suprised as when asked the bill , abt 5 hrs before check out they asked to pay in cash as credit cards are available but only if will pay one day before check out ... hotel cecil is a small hotel on the heart of old rome with excelent position the rooms are comfortable fr 2 persons but poor with dangerous furnitures, the bathrooms are in bad condition and uncomfortable but always clean. the breakfast is poor fr european standards. the staff almost is very helpfully and polite. as we understand the situation in old rome is almost the same in all hotels as the buildings are very old without facilities like other european capitals. therefore we believe that if you need to stay in centre of old rome and very close to all attractions/shops and you have not special requirements the cecil is a good solution with good value.

The accommodation provided consisted of joined-together twin beds rather than the 'double bed' I booked and the advertised air conditioning was broken for the first three nights. ... There was noone present at front desk as we left the hotel with our bags. The owners were in the adjoining lounge, apparently not on duty, but noone made any effort to say goodbye or thank you despite the fact that we spend 1080 euro to stay six nights. ... The Hotel Cecil has the potential to be a much better hotel than it actually is. The staff are mostly friendly and helpful but sometimes short and surly. The ground floor especially has a problem with damp which gives the building a somewhat rundown look and atmosphere. The bedrooms themselves are reasonably nice, however, and the breakfast is reasonably good with friendly service. ... Not a bad hotel if you need a very central location in Rome with reasonable comfort. But the cost of the accommodation is extremely high by international standards - compared to standards of service and accommodation for the same price (or less!) in NYC, LA, London, Paris. I would advise checking for availability in other hotels before the Cecil but settling for the Cecil if nothing else available.

The staff were much more helpful when we checked in that when we left. No one helped with our luggage or even helped with the door. ... Nice hotel in an excellent location.

Arrival experience was good. Better than I expected. ... I was a litle disappointed with the Hotel. ... Checking-Out was fine. ... The Hotel staff is VERY polite and helpful. ... I am not sure I would stay there again. The rooms just were not up to my standards.

At last we ended up with rooms according to our online reservation, but first we had to complain about one of the single room, which did not have the standard we expected. We got the feeling that our original room were double-booked and that they first tried to give us a much smaller room than what we were paying for. ... At Hotel Cecil we experienced to get jelled at during breakfast, because they did not have enough tables and chairs for all the quest staying at the hotel. The staff tried their best, but the management really did not try to solve the situation. Instead of trying to find solutions, the management took out their frustations on the quests. We heard one english lady call the hotel 'a discrease'. Breakfast-time was not Hotel Cecil at it best!!! ... The check out went very well! The reseptionist called for a taxi which took us to the airport. We had already payed for in full at arrival. ... The hotel has a very good and central location! On the negative side, the management could really do with some improvals! ... The hotel and room itselves was according to our expectations ones we got the new singleroom, but the staff remined us a bit of the famous 'Hotel Fawlty'- with Sybil, Manuel etc... Lots of temper and jelling: maybe someone would call that charming?
