Arrival by air via Pisa was spoiled by lack of trains after 10pm and also lack of advice on travel to Florence at that time. We took a very expensive taxi from the airport to the hotel. For such a major city this is a week link and needs to be improved.

We arrived after 10pm from Sorrento and one of their employees named Daniel was actually outside looking out for us which I thought was really thoughtful and considerate. The only disappointment was I wish we had planned to stay their earlier. We were even able to find an old print in an art store of the square with the hotel in it!

The receptionists (especially the receptionist who was a lady) spoke excellent English! Everyone at the desk was very helpful no matter what I asked.
I loved the painted ceiling and the views from our room. Our stay the Loggiato dei Serviti was like something right out of a very romantic movie!
The lady who cleaned our room and served us breakfast the last two days was exceptionally nice! We felt her kindness was very sincere.
The only negative part about our stay was having to walk past the homeless people who hung out at the corner between the annex and the hotel, and the homeless people who slept outside of the hotel. I was very grateful they ignored us, but my wife still felt very nervous walking past them. We were afraid they might be drug users or drug dealers.
Nonetheless I'd love to stay again at the Hotel Loggiato dei Serviti, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel to any friend planning on a visit to Florence.

Directions were useless...the area is mostly closed to traffic...we had a taxi driver lead us to the Piazza. Otherwise The stay was incredible...the staff was most professional, courteous and helpful. The desk manager gave us great directions to wind our way through the one way and closed streets...I can't speak highly enough of the staff.

The suite was beautifully and tastefully furnished and comfortable and of course looking out onto the Piazza and seeing Renaissance architecture was spectacular. You might want to let people know a little of the history of the Piazza the hotel is part of. The Bruneleschi designed aches and that the Accademy of the Arts housing Michaeangelo's 'David' was on the street behind the hotel was a delightful surprise. This hotel and it's staff have made my first trip to Italy a special memory and I will return

As mentioned above, the history of the buildings and the Piazza are very important. and involve some of the most important names in the arts and architecture of Italy and the world. As an artist this was an incredible surprise. Also, the location is ideally close to many other historical treasures and great shopping and dining is only a short stroll.

Since we were coming in from an overnight flight from the U.S., I had e-mailed in advance to see if we could have our room early (by noon). That was arranged and was very satisfactory.

The only problem was that when we returned to stay three additional nights (Nov. 16-17-18), the room assigned overlooked the square and had a tiny shower which gets water all over the bathroom. We asked for another, and the second room was quite satisfactory, although my colleague wished for drawers to store her things. I always live out of the suitcase.

This was an excellent hotel with superb warm clean rooms with plenty of hot water - much appreciated during the very cold weather we had during our stay. The hotel was also in an excellent position for sightseeing around the city.
The staff were very pleasant and unassuming - not at all overwhelming but willing to offer help if asked.
A couple of small comments: - the breakfast - we wondered if this could have been a little more substantial possibly including something hot but simple like scrambled eggs. We would have been happy to pay a little more for a more substantial breakfast although we do appreciate this was a traditional continental breakfast.

A soup kitchen is located next door. It just serves lunch so one would only notice the line of people waiting to enter in the late morning. This is neither a positive nor negative for the hotel, but something that visitors would notice. There is an excellent restaurant around the corner called Academia (just like the museum), which my friends and I enjoyed so much we ate there twice in three days. Typical Firenze dishes, great value for money, friendly wait staff, and a deft hand in the kitchen.

Hotel Loggiato dei Serviti, which is in a lovely old former monastery, is an excellent choice of lodging for couples or families who don't require the amenities of a more modern hotel (i.e. Internet connection, room service). The two-level quad room is handy for a small family as it is equipped with two bathrooms and provides a bit of privacy. Beds are comfortable and the furnishings are handsome as is the entire hotel. The breakfast buffet is adequate, with fresh breads, canned prunes and peaches, yoghurt, cereal, and good coffee. The staff is accommodating and professional; willing to provide coffee in the late afternoon, make dinner and museum reservations, hire taxis or check train schedules. We were given a great recommendation for a restaurant around the corner (The Academia) that proved so delicious my party returned the following evening for an equally delightful meal. The hotel is a short walk to the Duomo and is well-located, yet slightly away from the touristed areas so you feel like you're getting a second vacation when you reach its door.

We asked for two double rooms, 1 room was large and very comfortable, the other was very small with no drawers to put clothes away. We asked to change rooms and were given a much nicer large room in the annexe across the road. We were very disappointed with the location, lots of vagrants sitting around at all times of the day, right outside the hotel entrance. I am glad we were in a party and not as singles.

At the end of my stay I asked if it might be possible to look into the loft space to see the construction of the roof (I am a student of architectural history) and the hotel was delighted to oblige. This was a lovely place to be in Florence.

On an email we were told that a parking garage space may not be available, which made us have more complications trying to park the car before getting to the hotel. Upon arrival, we were told that there was ALWAYS space available, and if we had known this, it would have made it easier for us.

We stayed in a beautiful suite. I loved our stay. The hotel is convienent and in a quiet location although, I was a bit disconcerted when we arrived at the line of poor people waiting in the soup line next door. It helped my children remember how very lucky we are.

On arrival because of lateness airline, the receptionist placed us in a higher grade room until the next morning when they moved us into the annex as previously promised. We did ask for a double and a single bed and received two singles was the only difference. This was not a serious problem.

I do not remember all of the details from the website but my perception is the website accurately described the facility. I don't remember the website stating that the back rooms required climbing several flights of stairs. After a long day of site seeing, it was a challenge but not to the point that it detracted from the overall facility

The hotel was very nice but each night a jazz concert was held outside on the plaza and there was loud music and loud people until 1am in the morning - we would not stay there again with that much noise nor could we recommend the hotel because of it. Otherwise, it was really nice. The temporary jazz stage must be removed.

I would suggest you book foreign travelers for the more 'historical' rooms first, or asks the hotel to so in the future.

We arrived late in the evening. The staff was very quick with our check-in. Noted that the suite we reserved was having some water problems, so they gave us two adjacent rooms at the same price.

Overall we were very pleased with the hotel and accomodations. We didn't realize that there were only a limited choice of restaurants in the immediate area, however. This required our walking some distance to have our evening meals even when our children were tired from our day's outings. On the other hand this made for a quiet setting and peaceful evenings.

I drove into Florence from Venice. I had some trouble locting the hotel. People on the street giving directions were very helpful, even with a language problem.

It takes you back to renaissance florence the building is over 500 years old and the decor and furniture also remind you of this period.

When there is a concert in the piazza, it is quite loud, even in rooms on the back of the hotel that do not face the piazza. This should be noted on www.florenceby.com.
Having said that, everything else about the hotel was wonderful.

The quaint loggiato was a wonderfully authentic italian experience. Our large and amply furnished high ceilinged room had a strong sense of history with a beautiful old wooden double bed, the mattress was however firm and I thank the modern world for it. We had a great balcony over-looking the piazza and the sound proofing worked thanks to the double glazing, which admittedly was a relief since there was much early morning activity. What we lacked in larger public rooms was more than well made up for by a concerned and professional staff.

It's a very nice hotel. We had a piazza view which was charming, but noisier than expected. One of the street corners on the piazza has become a popular young persons' hangout. The location was fine -- not too far from anything,although it isn't the most centrally located hotel. The room was very nice, and the breakfast very typical. The front desk personal helped with museum tickets and dinner reservations. While they seem a bit standoffish, they always delivered.

steps. It would be hard for an elderly
person to carry heavy baggage by him/
herself up to the front door. When we

We had three rooms booked for the same rate of 205E per night. All three rooms were quite different in quality. One was quite nice and the other two were very Spartan. One seemed to have been a former maid's room as it was located in a very obscure part of the building. The hotel location was very good, but overall, we were not overly impressed with the property and did not find it a particularly good value.

slightly awkward item -- there seem to be
each evening a group of rather dubious or
seedy individuals hanging around the steps
near the hotel, some very drunk indeed, and
in the morning there was always litter from

I would prefer if the sheets and towels were not changed every day unless obviously dirty just from a responsible tourism point of view. Otherwise I thought the hotel was beautiful, peaceful and well run.

This is a wonderful hotel--elegant, quiet, in a beautiful square--and the staff is friendly and helpful in every way. The rooms are beautifully appointed and very clean. The breakfast buffet is abundant with healthy choices. I would definitely stay here on future visits to Florence.

Our experience at the Hotel Loggiato was very positive. The location was ideally close to everything. The service was friendly and efficient. The rooms were lovely.
We were disappointed at the condition of the Piazza in front of the hotel. Every night there were transients sleeping around the Piazza. In the mornings there were lines of unemployed, mostly men, lining up for daily jobs and as a result of that kind of traffic, the general area was trashy. That was not what we expected.

Yes, I would not want to stay with you if I were travelling alone. Although the conditions inside the hotel are excellent, conditions outside the hotel, on the Piazza are dirty and could perhaps be dangerous. I do not want unwashed teenagers and their dogs sleeping on the street outside my hotel, nor do I want to see large numbers of itinerant men lining the piazza outside my hotel.

very clean but the hotel did try to change the room to something much smaller citing lack of water and heat in the room. When we told them that was unacceptable they said they would get a plumber to fix the situation.

the suite description should have indicated that there was one large room and one smaller one with twin beds. That was not clear, the description said two king beds.

Lovely, close to the center of museums, etc. Helpful staff. The square it is on is pretty but also the place where lots of homeless people sleep so be prepared to be verbally accosted in the evening by some of them.

Our room was wonderful, but on the third floor and the elevator was not working - we were aware of this in advance. However, we had no idea how far up this third floor was and how hot the climb would be. I would never stay there again without a working elevator! I don't think the hotel was full and I think they should have moved us.

I would emphasize the quality of the breakfast each morning (fresh baked goods, variety of choices). It was also a pleasant surprise to find the lounge and bar area where we had cocktails before dinner each night. The hotel staff was very accomodating. The information you provide on your web site regarding parking should be more clear. We had not been to Florence before this trip, and it would have been helpful to know that a rental car either a) was not needed or b) would be very expensive to park. All American hotels have parking on their property. I gather that almost no hotels in Florence offer this convenience. This is okay, but it would have been nice to know before getting to the hotel.

One item that would have helped us a lot was to know that the street signs are on the sides of the buildings, and that there is no sign for the Hotel Loggiato dei Serviti that can be seen from the street. Without the picture on your web site, it would have been very difficult to find this hotel.

When we arrived at 9:00pm there were two homeless people sleeping within 10 - 15 ft of the front door which gave us a very bad feeling.

Our room was # 28, which we nicknamed the 'attic.' We sensed that these were leftover rooms used when everything else was filled up. #27 and #28 are up a very steep flight of steps with unmatching carpeting. Room was clean, bathroom was very well appointed, beds were fine, just felt like orphans stuck away in the attic. The staff wasn't OVERLY friendly but OK...breakfast was good, too. One thing that it does have going for it was its location...it was very convenient. I think it would have been a much better experience without the two homeless people and a better location for a room.

The piazza and outside areas are less desirable
than many other parts of Florence. There were homeless people sleeping on the broad stone porch of the hotel, and litter about. Also some unsavoury characters sitting around. I wish the hotel would have created a more defined entrance to the hotel and also kept the environment such as the steps up to the entrance door,cleaner and more approachable.
The room was nice but the area was not, and I would have felt afraid to go out after dark without my husband with me. I have never felt that at other hotels in Florence.

We had a room that faced the Piazza San Marco. All night, on the first night, someone was playing a radio. We were unable to sleep at all. We asked at 4 am to be transferred to another room, but supposedly none were available (although many keys were still not checked out) We asked for a new room the next day. The manager denied. Then we told management either we had to be moved to the back or we would leave. We were moved and the second room was small but quite lovely. I would not go back to this hotel without assurance of a quiet room. The breakfast staff worked hard to be accomodating. We loved our stay in Florence.
