A top level 3 star hotel with 4 star aspects, but friendlier than any 4 star we have ever visited. Meals and other extras are very reasonably priced.

The walls were a little thin conerning all the students that staying in the hotel but the staff more than made up for the noise. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

The manager, Daniela was nice enough to let us leave our bags in the room past the checkout time so that we could visit the Museum.

The Hotel California is a very nice mid-range hotel that is within walking distance to all of the major sites and the staff is very pleasant. Ask for room 123 for a great view of the Duomo and be sure to enjoy the view from the terrace.

We were met by the innkeeper who was warm, friendly and showed us to our lovely room

We couldn't have asked for more. The rooms were clean and spacious, the breakfasts were large and varied, the staff was lovely, and we had a beautiful view of the Duomo from our room.

We couldn't have chosen a better place. We were just a few blocks from the Duomo, the Accademia, San Marco, good restaurants. The rooms were spacious and lovely. The staff was exceptional; the breakfasts were excellent. We will definitely stay there again.

I didn't expect the lovely patio/balcony we had off of our room - it was beautiful. The room was amazing as well. The staff was beyond wonderful. I would highly recommend this hotel to others. Location, food, staff, room - everything was perfect!

Hotel California exceeded my expectations! The room was spacious and beautiful - with an adorable little balcony to the outside courtyard. Both food and service was impeccable. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

It would help to let clients know about how much it costs to get a taxi to the hotel. We got a taxi and we were glad we did. 'The amount of the taxi was okay, it would have been better to know that there is a set amount and what it would cost to get to the hotel. I was very glad we used the taxi and not walked.

Rooms are very spacious and of a good standard giving excellent value. The California is also perfectly located to allow its guests great access to beautiful Florence. Being situated by the Duomo it is also easy to find.

We really were concerned that we had made a big mistake in selecting this hotel when we first found the entrance to the building. The small ground level entrance and tiny old elevator was less than impressive. However...once we found our way to the front desk on the 3rd floor, the owners and staff were wonderful, our room was large, quiet, and clean, and we were very pleased.

Don't expect a 5 star hotel, but if you want a nice room, a very accomodating and friendly staff, and a great location, the Hotel California is a great consideration. Just don't be thrown off by the ground level entrance.

The lobby of the hotel was not as it looked on line. This concerned us when we first checked in. Once we were shown to our room however, our fears were eased. It was a very nice room. Comfortable, clean, with a small balcony and a stunning view of the Duomo.

This could be one of the most centerally located hotels you are likely to find at a resonable price. The lobby could use a revamp as could the breakfast offerings but all in all its a charming hotel.

A friendly hotel in a fantastic location for all the sites of Florence. Considering how close it is to the Duomo (about 100 metres) the rooms weren't too noisy even with the windows open. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated though not particularly large. The staff all seemed to speak English too!
The combination of price and location makes this hotel an excellent choice.

once we found it, great, car was taken to a garage and parked for the duration of our stay, delightful hotel, highly recommend it.

It is a very good location for seeing the city of Florence. The hotel is wonderful, helpful hosts and easy to access all that yor would want to visit in the city. The rooms are clean and well serviced. Water is good and showers are fine.

Unlike some other hotels we booked in other places in Italy, the photos showed EXACTLY what the place was like. It is good value for money. The staff is MOST helpful in making reservations and help with mailing and laundry. It is spotlessly clean. Our room was large and quiet, just what we had asked for. A fine place.

Our experience at Hotel California was wonderful! Daniela was very helpful with many things including dinner recommendations. Our room was great with a wonderful view of the Duomo. Breakfast was delightful in a sunny room with lots of windows. The terrace was especially nice and we were able to bring a picnic lunch up there one day and enjoy the views and the sunshine. The location was also ideal for exploring Florence and it was affordable. I highly recommend it!

Everything was as stated. Since we walked from the train station, I might have appreciated knowing the number of kilometers or how long of a walk it was from the train station to the hotel. But this is a minor detail.

We found the staff to be extremely helpful and willing to make arrangements for us. They suggested a restaurant; make a reservation for us at another one and made arrangements for a lovely tour of Tuscany for us as well. The rooms were clean and spacious.
It was a wonderful location. Best of all was it's proximity to the very best gelato in Florence. We enjoyed the gelato everyday while staying at the Hotel California.
We would recommend this hotel.

We were able to evaluate several hotel choices and make a decision on where to stay. The hotel met the expectations set by the description on the website.

Our room had a view of the Duomo, and overlooked a quiet courtyard shielded from the street. The hotel staff was very helpful. The hotel location is outstanding. The breakfast was good and it was nice to eat on the outdoor patio.

Florence traffic system is diabolic, took 3 hours to find the hotel..DRIVING in the city. The hotel was lovely, historic and clean, staff friendly and helpful, very welcoming, ( rather offset by the dreadful experience of finding it...)

Accommodations were basic but clean; breakfast provided was more than the usual continental. Best thing about this hotel is its location just two blocks from the Duomo in Florence - at an affordable price!

Manager pressed us to pay cash even though voucher indicated that we could pay by credit card. When this was pointed out to him, he backed down and accepted the credit card.

It was fine. We arrived early, so we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel and come back later when our room was ready. It was only an hour.

The room had all of the qualities listed in number 8 except QUIET. There was a couple with a baby staying in the room next to ours and we could always hear the baby crying & the parents talking to the baby.
Also, there was a mosquito problem. There were constantly mosquitos in our room and I got bit several times every night.

My husband did the entire check out in Italian. The staff was very pleased. They gave us a bottle of Chianti wine as a wedding present when we checked out which I thought was very nice.

Our stay in Florence at Hotel California was great. The staff was the best. The room was just as it was pictured on the website. It was very conveniently located between the Duomo and the Accademia. If we travel back
to Florence we will definitely use this hotel again.
