My husband and I stayed at the Hotel David three years ago on our honeymoon, and we were very excited to return with my parents for another stay. The hotel, wonderful then, has made a few improvements that made it even better than we remembered. My parents were extremely happy with all of Hotel David's staff, the location, the amenities, and the atmosphere. We will beyond doubt return to Hotel David again, and recommend it to all our friends.

We had to leave rather early for a train, and the staff was well prepared and our check out was very smooth. They helped us arrange for a taxi, which arrived in just minutes, and we were sad to go!

The hotel now has free internet access for guests and a nightly cocktail reception with fabulous hors d'oeuvres. It is a lovely 10 minute walk from the center of town, but we found out it is excellently positioned for Florence's public bus system.

Hotel David is a comfortable, classy establishment with employees that give outstanding customer services 100% of the time. It is an excellent value for the money, and deserves more than it's three stars. While hotels can often be merely a place to sleep, Hotel David is a wonderful place to call home in Florence.

Parking was a challenge but other than that, it was a nice room and a very nice hotel overall.

Unfortunately there were some noisy guests in the next room who repeatedly woke us up ... maybe the walls were not quite as thick or the doors not soundproofed enough.

Our rental car was scratched up noticeably due to the parking situation which was frequently chaotic.

A beautiful small hotel, from which you can walk or take the city bus to get to the heart of Florence, close enough that you can go back to your room before dinner to freshen up (Florence is HOT in the summer!) and then go back out to the city. We loved it. If we ever go back to Florence, we will consider the David again.

Serina, the receptionist was so pleasant. Always someone at the desk, and willing to take care of various details for us, making reservations for restaurants etc.

We couldn't have had a nicer experience. The staff treated us like family. There was a happy hour every evening where free wine and appetizers were served. Such a nice idea. We were able to socialize and sit out on the terrace at the end of our busy day. They also had unlimited and free use of the internet for guests--wonderful.

Our stay was fantastic, we travel to different cities in Europe three or four times per year and I can honestly say that Hotel David is one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in. It gave you a true feeling of Florence from the intrior style of the decor to the friendliness of all the staff. Also the fact that they included aperitifs and nibbles every evening for all the guests at no extra cost was amazing. This was also an ideal time to meet and talk to the other guests and swap experiences.

After a long frustrating day of driving, reaching Hotel David was like finding an oasis. Gabriel greeted us and made us feel very welcome. They even have a 6:00PM wine tasting and social gathering in a room just of the loby. I can't say enough about their hospitality and kindness. No 8: There was more traffic than expected just outside the hotel, but since we were there in a rather cool period, we didn't have to have the windows open at night, so no problem. I suppose it is different in summer.

A personal and 'familyish' hotel away from the crowded inner city. Centre easily accessible on foot, good public transport(cheap and frequent), charming, relaxed neighbourhood. Good, attentive and polite service. Excellent breakfast and free snacks/wine in the early evening. Cosy sittingroom with books and magazines. A 'home away from home' hotel. The David will defenitely be our choice next time, also.

At the time of our arrival (our 4th day in Italy), Alitalia had finally found our luggage. The manager at Hotel David had been contacted by Alitalia and was most helpful in getting the bags delivered to the Hotel. We were impressed by his competence and service.

Firenze was quite hot that day and the room was delightfully cool. A somewhat busy road fronts the hotel so there was road noise but it did not bother our sleep or comfort. Also, very nice beds. Our son appreciated the free internet down in the lobby. We walked to all the sites- it wasn't far but some folks would probably take the bus. It was not difficult to find coming by car from the south and parking was provided.

We were extrememly pleased with the Hotel David. After a somewhat cold, sterile experience at a hotel in Rome, the David was truly a breath of fresh air. The accomodations were pleasant and welcoming (and charming), and the staff was friendly and very good with English.
If I found myself in the Florence area again, I would have no reticence about staying there again.

We had a wonderful time here and would recommend it to anyone staying in Florence. I bet it's even nicer in the spring and summer when it's warm enough to sit outside on their patio. The evening aperitifs were wonderful and the breakfasts were fantastics. This hotel surpassed my expectations. We had a problem one day where our hot water would not work, but the staff was able to get someone to fix it in a few hours and invited us to use an alternate bathroom to shower in.

The evening aperitifs were great. I was expecting one drink at 6:30, instead, they had a spread of red and white wines and different snacks every night. It was a nice way to relax before dinner and sit by the fire and talk to other travelers.
You might want to re-write your directions to getting there, as it was a bit confusing finding the right bus at the train station, and we almost missed getting off at the right stop (the hotel was closer than we thought--not all the way to Piazza Michelangelo).

Hotel David is more like a bed and breakfast, with a friendly staff; large, comfortable rooms with televisions (only station in English is CNN); and evening aperitifs and big buffet breakfasts that made our stay in Florence wonderful. The location was great, too. We did not mind the 20-30 minute walk to the main tourist points, even in the cold winter weather. I am a college student who was traveling with two friends, and we are so glad we stayed here and would recommend it to anyone. It was such a great deal.

It's nice, quiet, and comfortable to stay at Hotel David. It's convenient to go to the center of Florence, yet don't need to endure the crowd of people and noise. Very helpful with our heavy and cumbersome luggage. Allowed us to check in early and let us help ourselves to breakfast the morning of checking in. On arrival we asked if we couldn't get a suit and dress pressed for a wedding that afternoon. They were happy to take both items, press them and had them back in the room by the time we finished breakfast.

The receptionist came out to meet us as we arrived by cab. Her welcoming was charming and helpful. There was even wine, cheese, nuts and small sandwiches for us (and othr guests that were arriving, I suppose). Quiet unexpected. But as we soon found out, this is a daily occurance for everyone at the hotel from around 5pm - 7pm. There was a computer available, free of any charges for any of the guests to use at any time. The court yard was very quiet and pretty. Although the hotel is on the 'otherside' of where most of the action is, crossing over to sites was never a problem. Initally, we thought there would be a noise problem as the hotel is on a very busy corner. Not so. The windows prevent any disturbances. The service at the breakfast bar was outstanding. Most certainly the typical European Breakfast, but there were added features, like 'homemade' cakes as well as differenct cereals, cheese and meats. I could go on and on. Take my word for it. We loved being their. One more thing. The place is spotless, spotless, spotless. The airconditioning works and the beds comfortable.

I had another thought. I don't know if this wine/cheese setup is something that was recently started at the hotel or is an ongoing thing. So before mentioning this as part of your listing you should probably check this out. Also, the use of the computer should be checked. Who knows. It might be available because of the present management.

I would call the Hotel David a Botique Hotel, because it is a relatively small number of rooms and they give personal attention, with extra services such as an apertif and hordorves before dinner, and help you with your luggage to your rooms.

The entire staff was wonderful throughout our stay. Not only would we recommend the Hotel David to others we already have. It was one of our most pleasant stay overseas.
In addition to the room to being everything we expected the breakfast was even better and the happy hour was a great addition.
Of course, I must comment on the Christmas decorations - they were a real special touch.

We were a little disappointed at first by the distance from the center of Florence but it turned out to be easy to use the bus and it was quieter a little outside the city. The hotel is in a lovely area. We walked back from the center a few times and it did not take long. We found a fabulous, reasonably priced restaurant one street back,parellel to the main street, very close to the hotel. '_____ Bric' The recommendations and help from the staff w/ reservations was excellent. The rooms were clean and charming as well as the common rooms. Breakfast and cocktail hour were great also. We will stay there again without hesitation.

The area is upscale and the walk up the hill outside to the left ends with a wonderful view of all of Florence. We had dinner one night on the terrace with food from the gourmet market across the street from the hotel. We knew about the breakfast but not about the cocktail hour in the late afternoon.

Very satisfied with the Hotel and staff. Room was perfect and the location & bus service nearby was very convenient. We cannot say enough about how helpful the staff was during our stay.
The parking arrangements made our visit to Florence with a car very easy. Not easy to find but minor compared to the overall quality of our stay and the hotel.
We will stay here again on our next trip.

I think a city map of the location with all the streets around would help because you can not see the hotel’s sign from a distance especially if you are driving.

The accommodation was excellent and the room large and comfortable. The bathroom was, however, a disappointment as it had a shower rather than a bath and was very dark.
The staff were charming and helpful. Their recommendations for restaurants were very good. I would recommend this hotel to others and have already done a review for Trip-advisor.com

The distance of the Hotel David from the centre. It is further than we thought. My sone had hurt his foot so what we would normally treat as a pleasant walk home along the river, became a bus ride. However, the buses are not very frequent after 10 p.m. when only a night bus runs.
I think it is also described as quiet but I think this is misleading. It is on a very busy road and the first night the traffic kept me awake.

The snacks and wine offered for tired and weary travellers are a plus!! When you have been travelling for hours on end, it's nice to have someone very welcoming and then offering the guests something to snack on, including wine!

The rooms were very well kept and spacious. My only problem with the room that we had was the noise on via Michelangelo. Since the hotel is on a busy street, it can get very loud early in the morning when you're still trying to sleep. Otherwise the rooms were excellent!

I would have to say that the staff was very helpful and polite. When I asked if they could give us some recommendations for restaurants the locals eat at, they(Michael or another man, I forgot his name but he was extremely helpful) recommended a very good restaurant at reasonable prices.
Also, when I asked for advice on traveling to Barcelona from Cinque Terre(Italy) the staff(again both of the males) went out of their way to help us with our travel itenarary by searching train schedules and printing out the info for us. I really appreciate the solid advice that they gave us about travelling around Italian trains at night and the best way to get to Barcelona from Cinque Terre. Thanks Hotel David for such a wonderful experience!!!

I arrived close to midnight in Florence due to the flight delay from Amsterdam. I had arranged for an airport pick-up so I telephoned the hotel to inform of my late arrival. It had turned out that the pick-up had not been arranged. I think it was more of a technical problem than a manual problem. It was a disappointment though when I found out that nothing was arranged for a pick-up when I had received the confirmation.

It's a nice hotel, nice rooms, pleasant staff. But it's very noisy. No double windows and the street noises get directly into the room. I had to buy earplugs to be able to sleep.

There were some communication problems for our check out. We advised the staff that we would have a very early check out (around 6:00 a.m.) the day before. However, when we check out that morning, we were told by the nightshift staff that she is not responsible for checking out. Anyway, we resolved the issue finally. I think this is the only minor flaw I have found during my stay in this hotel.

The room was beautiful and airy. It was also very clean. There was a slight problem with the air conditioning which was fixed very promptly. We were very impressed with their attention to detail.

staff was attentive, knew who we were, gave us a waiting message immediately and made us feel very welcome.

Of the three places we stayed on this trip, this was by far the nicest. Partly because it was well situated, clean and pretty, but the staff made us feel that it was 'our home' away from home. Really enjoyed the evening 'happy hour' which gave us a chance to meet other guests and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine.

A small, friendly hotel, close to the old part of Florence, but not in the hussle and bussle of downtown with a very accomodating staff. Very close to bus stop which made it easy to get around. They get 5 stars for hospitality! I would definitely stay there again, and again.

I strongly recommend Hotel David. It was like staying in a villa rather than a hotel, the staff were very attentive and the location was lovely, within walking distance of the centre but away from the bustle and with local shops and restaurants which were used by local people.
